"Insanely Great" Article

The trouble with Steve - Mar. 4, 2008

Now he was a go-to-hell aesthete who cared about making beautiful objects that made money.

Fortune is actually gaining my respect today with several excellent profiles in the edition on newsstands now.

Decor Democracy

So one wall in the current abode remains blank--the space above my bed. Originally I was considering a horizontal vintage travel poster (in keeping with the rest of the room), but those simply don't exist for a price below $500 or in significant quantities in terms of selection. Quite a shame, South America, Asia, and Oceania all remain unrepresented and the two main posters cluster around the Mediterranean (Monaco and Morocco). Then I considered a lesser known Dali to play off the dreamscape as I lie in slumber below. But most of Dali's work is simply too busy for the mood I'm seeking.

However, in keeping with the dominance of Spanish art in my personal taste, I think I've settled on Miro. I can't claim to be particularly well versed in art, but consistently surrounding myself with those with a true passion, I think today I can identify Calder, Carravaggio, Dali, El Greco, Goya, Hassam, Miro, Picasso, Singer Sargent, and Velazquez as my personal favorite painters at the moment....and many of those are Spanish. I stumbled upon the Guggenheim exhibit El Greco to Picasso today, and it looks like I'll need an excuse to travel up to NYC before the end of March to see the exhibit--it sounds quite wonderful!

So, returning to my point: Anyone wish to express their preferences? The room is largely earth tones/dark brown furniture and all the other posters have shades of blue balancing against warmer pinks, oranges, and pale yellows. Which do you love most (or hate least)?
