Green—Up to a Point
Did BW really think that these companies joined USCAP to actually make the world a better place? The only reason USCAP exists is to make the "inevitable" as painless as possible for these large firms, by promoting national standards rather than a minefield of state by state regulations. A single regulatory body is easier to comply with than a patchwork, but in reality, it should be obvious that many of these companies have a large stake in the status quo and will delay actual action toward improved environmental responsibility as long as possible.
