Finding Their Voices

Link to a moving, interesting story that appeared in the Washington Post weekend magazine a few weeks back--I don't believe I ever got around to posting this. I first encountered the debate world in college, and so I have no direct knowledge of the closely knit high school circuit, but the story of these two Baltimore teens is exceptional and demonstrates the simple salvation that the activty can offer. I may have fallen into debate for the subsidized travel and exposure to the pseudo-legal community, but these teens turn to debate as a ladder out of gritty, uncertain, unstable reality.
