Cost of Living

So this is not *new* news, but off back of the FT from Friday March 3, there is a nice little blurb about the world's most expensive cities. This is drawn from data from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) from Autumn 2005. The top 10 and other notables:

1. Oslo (at about 140 on the index with New York=100)
2. Tokyo (down from the top after 14 years!)
3. Reykjavik (?!?! OK....Iceland? I guess they need to import everything...)
4. Osaka-Kobe
4. Paris
6. Copenhagen
7. London
8. Zurich
9. Geneva
10. Helsinki
14. Hong Kong
27. New York
35. Chicago
35. Los Angeles
40. San Francisco
58. Beijing
87. Rio de Janeiro
87. Sao Paulo
