Apologies for the long absence, work has truly been accelerating around here.....

Just wanted to leave a brief note (alas, not feeling much analysis at this hour!) that *finally* it seems that talks will be moving forward for Croatia to join the EU. Some political analysts see this as Austria's card up the sleeve in the brief fuss over extending a formal offer of discussion to Turkey, others find it to be a completely separate event. Either way, if all things proceed accordingly, the EU will increase by yet two more members. The situation with the alleged war criminal is quite a complex one and hard to decide whether the Croatia government is truly fully culpable to the extent of the penalties inflicted upon it since March (indefinitely delayed membership). Things seem righted now, although a murderer may still be on the loose. In war, these questions are quite difficult to answer and without the facts in front of me, I refrain from judgement. Still, I delight that Croatia now has this opportunity...... more later perhaps.
