Apple - Mighty Mouse

I don't know whether to be amazed at the fact that Steve Jobs has me semi-excited about a mouse (I'd be more excited if it was $50 and had Bluetooth) or about the fact that after more than 20 years of the mouse being on the market*, Apple is STILL able to run over the rest of the field and design something absolutely miles ahead in terms of elegance and functionality.

*Apple itself introduced the peculiarly named innovation to the general market as a new, intuitive, and powerful way to interact with the machine. That was 1984. This is 2005. Since then, until today, Apple has stubbornly stood by new versions of it's original 1 button mouse, eventually ditiching the roller ball for an optical camera and the cord for bluetooth, but always one button. Today, they blew through that--while still building it for eternity.

The market has seen multibutton mouses, from 2 to 10, trackpads, joysticks, trackballs, etc etc. Now we have the 1 button mouse with the functionality of a 4 button...

Yeah.... I'm a geek. And a sucker for quality and elegant innovation. And that's why I use an Apple.
