I've been in a bit of a contemplative mood these past two or three days. As I got on the Jubilee line on my way home, I was struck by the beauty of the simple "human moment." I'm sitting down, and I look up and there's a uniformed Securitas company security guard across from me, with a worn, pale 60 year old face and a nervous intelligence in his eyes. He sat down, slumped and exhausted, and struggled with his tie. It was a little navy number, with the company logo emblazoned at the bottom. He finally caught it, and took off his… clip on tie. The buzz of the tube, filled with an odd bit of foreign conversation on the most international of the normally quiet lines, was punctuated by his presence. Nervous rigidity, freed of the tie knot and slumped into exhaustion: a human moment-starkly beautiful.
Then of course there was Sunday morning, and reading about the "real Spain," having a bit of peace and quiet myself. It's been a decent two days, I guess. Saturday was also fantastic, with a day trip to the city of Bath. First time I've completely filled up my memory card just like that. Just a really spectacular city, made of....bath stone. Best preserved Roman Baths in the world, beautiful spa town with plenty of grand buildings, greenery, a nice little river, a delicious chocolate bar/shop, somewhat like the one in St. Louis, but more casual. Just a feast for the eyes, I'll write more on that one once I post some pictures.
Most definitely still have a lot to catch up on, but internships and the bed are calling.
