A Simple Twist of Fate

A glum, melancholic day. Sorry to my nonexistent readers for being out of touch with the world for the past few weeks--such is finals time in the life of an undergrad--we dive wholeheartedly deep into our bubbles.

Anyway, let's just say today's soundtrack is dominated by two albums. Beck's Sea Change and Brian Wilson/the Beach Boy's Pet Sounds. With a bit of The Smiths kicked in there for good measure. Or, on this 15 degree day, of the skin and of the soul, perhaps, a bit of the "Winter Mix" in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

A simple observation, but life is far too bittsweet. With the sweetest honey comes the most pungent garlic (to stick in a family Slavic xmas tradition...). The Yin and Yang (probably misusing that one), good/bad, delightful/painful, heart swelling/breaking. Such a complex bundle of emotions and experiences, and damn it if it doesn't hurt like hell sometimes. Yet the darkness night has a dawn....but at the same time, the sun will set on even the most beautiful of days. I guess that's the tragic beauty of it all, in the end. Can you truly feel any emotion without having experienced it's opposite? The longer this life goes on, the more perspective it acquires.
