The New York Times > Fashion & Style > You Paid How Much for That Haircut?: "Mr. Pita defended his $800 price tag, a new high for the city, and a fee that is the equivalent of twice the annual income of the average citizen of Bangladesh."
I swear, I'll never understand women's haircuts (not that men couldn't go here too...). I go to an old barber here at school, flat $15 after tip, he spends a meticulous hour on me as well, except not in "monastic silence." We actually talk about interesting things, like model trains, hunting, and egg shell coffee. Infinitely satisfied, for $15. Does a mean straight edge shave too...
The fact that NY stylists are commanding rates the level of GDP per capita annual incomes...is a disturbing monument to the cult of "better than you" monetary inferiority complex materialism America has built.
