As a dutiful Wash U student of political science, I must analyze at the altar of numerical analyses. In this tradition, I present you with the post below. By tweaking the numbers, a result is found that both refutes the red America/blue America cultural divide (or reinterprets--there is a divide between the solid blue and the mixed/red leaning areas) as well as creates some stunning abstract art.

Who is the artist of this picture?
Wow, my writing is terrible in this post.... anyway, that picture is generated through a mathematical simulation of voting patterns in the United States. The original researcher/author is available through the link. I believe the bulges and strange overall shape result by placing a size value on population or degree of party preference per precinct.
